Get To Know Evan Dvorkin
From New Jersey to Rhode Island, and now Baltimore, our co-founder, Evan Dvorkin, chats about the journey that led him here and answers some questions to get to know him better.
How’d you get to where you are now?
I started out at the University of Rhode Island, bouncing from major to major until the end of my sophomore year. After that, I moved to Baltimore to work with my brother, Justin, as a bartender at his restaurant, Pratt Street Ale House. Fast forward a few years later and I became the Beverage Director for the company. At the time, I had started Your Social Gathering with my wife, Megan. I quickly realized that YSG had a need for photo and video work and that is something that I have always been passionate about. As that branch of the company grew I developed EvPhotoCinema.com.
Is what you’re doing now what you thought you’d be doing when you were a kid?
I honestly don't think that I ever knew what I wanted to do as a kid. I would jump from idea to idea, getting hooked on one thing or another and learning about that thing until something else would come along. That being said, I think photo and video work was in there a few times. It's honestly the perfect thing for someone who loves no two days to be the same or an environment that changes often. Every shoot is different, every edit presents new challenges, and there is always something new to learn, which is exactly what I love.
What was your first job?
My first job was teaching snowboarding at a small mountain in New Jersey called Camp Gaw.
Which major brands would you love to work with?

Where is your favorite place to work?
Colorado, hands down. To prevent you from reading this all day, I’ll just say the reasons are endless.
When you’re not working, how do you spend your time?
This may sound crazy but when I’m not working, I’m generally still editing, personal projects that is. I find it relaxing. Otherwise, you can find me hanging out with friends and family.
